Reporting to the Director of University Development, the Associate Director, Philanthropic Partnerships (Principal Gifts) will fundraise for gifts of $1M plus and play a key role in the Alumni & Development team as the University looks to successfully conduct its first ever comprehensive fundraising campaign. This new role will focus on both individuals and corporate and foundation donors and prospects, and typically those with multiple interests across the university.
This role will be required to work independently and demonstrate a high level of initiative while being in a dynamic team environment where flexibility and multi-tasking is essential.
About Alumni and Development:
The Alumni and Development office works to advance the vision of the university by securing and increasing private sector funding for campus initiatives as well as fostering lifelong relationships between the university and its alumni, friends and community members with the goal of increasing personal involvement and commitment to the philanthropic support of the university’s academic mission and priorities. Development provides fundraising expertise and assistance and also coordinates and integrates fundraising initiatives for the university community in order to achieve optimal long-term results with donors.
About the position
The Associate Director, Philanthropic Partnerships (Principal Gifts) will work to enhance the reputation of the University of Victoria by developing and directing effective individual, corporate and foundation strategies with our most significant donors – to ensure increased philanthropic dollars raised at this level for the University of Victoria.
The Associate Director will be specifically responsible for securing philanthropic gifts from a portfolio of high-level alumni and prospects. The incumbent will work alongside the A&D Development team to deliver Principal Gift level proposals from across the faculties and wider university – balancing prospects interests within the University’s key Campaign priority pillars. They will prepare and accompany the President, AVP and other leaders on calls and oversee preparation, execution and follow-up activity for donor meetings that involve the President to ensure that they align with the institutional strategy and goals of the University.
They will also supervise the Development Coordinator, Principal Gifts and provide performance management, coaching and workload management.

The salary range for this position is:
- Recruitment range: 106,897 - $133,623 maximum starting salary is determined through knowledge, experience and internal equity.
- Performance range: $153,666 salary range ceiling is available through annual performance increases.
