LE,NONET, in collaboration with partners across campus, is seeking a First Year STEM Coordinator (FYSC) to join the team in the Office of Indigenous Academic and Community Engagement at the First Peoples House. The ideal candidate will combine an undergraduate degree in a STEM (science, technology, engineering and/or math) field with professional education and experience working with Indigenous learners.

The LE,NONET FYSC will contribute to the work of creating a “home away from home” at UVic for Indigenous students in STEM programs, fostering meaningful connections that support their academic and personal journeys. In this role, the FYSC collaborates with colleagues across campus to connect Indigenous students in STEM programs to vital resources, cultural programming and services that nurture their success and well-being. The salary range for this position is:
- Recruitment range: $83,094 - $91,625 starting salary determined by the PEA Collective Agreement.
- Performance range: $108,088 salary range ceiling is available through annual performance increases.

The Office of the Vice-President Indigenous (OVPI) is in the early phases of drafting a policy and developing a process to verify and affirm declarations of Indigenous identity, citizenship and membership at UVic where these claims result in material advantages, such as employment in an Indigenous-specific position. While the forthcoming policy is not in place at this time and will not be retroactively applied to this opportunity, the successful candidate(s) will be required to complete the Indigenous Citizenship Declaration (ICD) process should they apply for, or access, future opportunities resulting in material gain.
